During a month-long stay at the CRF, Berta employed Sandia’s unique reactor facilities to study the high-temperature entrained flow gasification rates of coal and biomass particles. Findings will be used to model gasifier performance, an important step toward an approach for producing liquid transportation fuels. Berta is an experienced gasification researcher from SINTEF, a government- and industry-funded energy research program in Norway that has an operating Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sandia.
