On April 14, officials from the DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) visited the Combustion Research Facility. The guests included David Danielson, EERE Assistant Secretary; Reuben Sarkar, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Transportation; Kevin Fitzmaurice, Special Assistant to the EERE Assistant Secretary; Libby Wayman, Director of the Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative; Austin Pugh, EERE Energy Commercialization Analyst; and Andreas Marcotty, Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative Research Fellow.

The visitors received briefings on engine combustion, biofuels, hydrogen research, and Basic Energy Sciences (BES) research areas. They visited several labs, including small-bore diesel/light-duty diesel, spray combustion, homogeneous charge-compression ignition (HCCI), and others, as well as the Combustion Research Computation and Visualization (CRCV) building.
