  • October 11, 2011 | NAG Manchester
HECToR Academic Supercomputer Service – Object-Oriented Programming in Fortran 2003

Fortran 2003 explicitly supports object-oriented programming (OOP). Emerging compiler support for Fortran 2003 inspires a more modern program design and implementation style. This course provides the requisite skills. This course will be given by Damian Rouson and Karla Morris from Sandia National Laboratories in the US.

Broader Engagement Workshop at Supercomputing 2011

The goal of the Broader Engagement (BE) Program is to increase the participation of individuals who have been traditionally underrepresented in high performance computing (HPC). The program offers special activities to introduce, engage and support a diverse community in the conference and in HPC. Competitive grants will be available to support travel to and participation in the SC’11 technical program. Consideration will be given to applicants from groups that traditionally have been underrepresented in HPC, such as African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and other underrepresented groups around the world, including women and people with disabilities. We encourage applications from people in all computing-related disciplines—from research, education and industry.

    Hydrogen Compatibility of Materials

The Fuel Cell Technologies Office will present a live webinar on August 13, 2013, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) describing hydrogen embrittlement and its impact on hydrogen distribution and storage. In particular, the webinar will examine the challenges and existing guidance for selecting structural materials for hydrogen service. During the webinar, speakers from DOE’s Sandia National Laboratories will review the “Technical Reference for Hydrogen Compatibility of Materials,” an important tool for identifying promising materials for hydrogen service and summarizing hydrogen compatibility data, as well as discovering gaps in available materials data and standards for qualifying materials for hydrogen service. Register to attend the webinar.
