Biography

Joe Ronevich is a Principal Member of the Technical Staff in the Hydrogen and Materials Science department. He is a co-principal investigator in the Hydrogen Effects on Materials Lab (HEML) located in Livermore, CA. His research focuses on hydrogen embrittlement of structural metals, including pipeline and pressure vessel steels, stainless steels, and nickel alloys. He has led several projects focused on quantifying the degradation in fatigue crack growth rate and fracture toughness of pipeline welds and heat affected zones. In this work, his research tries to understand the microstructure-mechanical property relationship. He is a core contributor to several DOE funded programs, specifically the Hydrogen Materials Compatibility (H-Mat) consortium and the Pipeline Blending CRADA (HyBlendTM). Over the years, he has developed strong international collaborations to coordinate research and maximize impact to industry.
